Furthermore, they are very easy to sell for a good price on the second-hand market as jumpers are always searching for them.
Both options have advantages and disadvantages. Analogue altimeters are usually cheaper and do not need a battery to function. Alti-2 is an American brand and also very strong in military application. They are very robust, easy to read and reliable. One important distinction is that L&B altimeters are powered by a replaceable battery whereas Alti-2 altimeters have an integrated battery and can be recharged over a cable. Although L&B’s battery life is significantly longer than the one of Alti-2, it is a common issue for jumpers at the dropzone asking around for a replacement battery for their L&B alti because it ran out.
