As a container can only hold parachutes in a range of approximately 40 sqft., it is important to consider the sizes of canopy that you are looking to jump. Depending on your skill-level, objectives and types of jumps you are looking to do, it is also important to make sure to find a suitable container with the right options.
A further important consideration is whether the container is equipped with an RSL or M.A.R.D. Both function as a system that automatically deploys your reserve parachute when you cut away your main canopy. The RSL does this by releasing the reserve pin. The M.A.R.D (commonly known as Skyhook) works in a way that your released main canopy functions as a Pilot Chute for the Reserve canopy pulling the free bag out directly which leads to quicker reserve deployments. Firstly, container and harness fit is extremely important. Verify well that it is suitable for what you are looking to buy. Secondly, having a container with the right options is important. Things like whether the container is freefly friendly and suitable to the disciplines you are looking to do (e.g. Wingsuit has some specific modifications that are helpful) should be considered. Lastly, check the condition of the rig. The wear of a rig can differ significantly for the same age and jump numbers as for example landing in grass will introduce less wear than landing on a beach.

Multiple other manufacturers such as Rigging Innovations, Paratec, Travel, or SWS have advantages as well and a large base of experienced skydivers swearing on them.
Buying used or new has clear pros and cons for both. As containers are individually designed to fit the buyer specifically, it is difficult to find a used container that fits you perfectly. Buying new also lets you choose exactly the colours and options that you want. However, new containers are usually significantly more expensive than used ones and you will likely eventually buy a smaller container if you progress down to smaller canopies (No reason to downsize if you are happy on your canopy size but most people do). Furthermore, the lead times of most manufacturers will mean that you might have to wait many months until you receive the container you ordered new.
