Skydiving Apparel by Discipline

Formation Skydiving Suits – also known as RW suits have grippers on arms and legs and have booties that go over the tip of the shoes to allow for optimal control in a belly-to-earth position and easy grips.

Skydiving Freefly Suit – suits used for freefly come in different forms, some are long-sleeve and some short-sleeved for warmer temperatures. They are generally relatively tight fitting to allow for better control at high air speeds. Many freefly suits can also be used for the tunnel and vice versa. Tonfly suits are the very popular options for both long-sleeve and summer suits.

Skydiving Swoop Pants – rigid pants, usually 3/4 length, used for swooping. They have reinforcement at knees and butt for robustness when sliding in a landing and often include a pocket to stow the RDS (The removable slider and deployment system used in canopy piloting). Also commonly chosen by other skydivers that don't want to wear a full jumpsuit but still want the rigidity to slide in a landing.

Student Skydiving Jumpsuits – general skydiving jumpsuits, similar to formation skydiving suits therein that they are baggier and have grippers to make freefall more stable and help the instructor to hold them, but differing in not being built for performance.

Indoor Skydiving Suits – similar to freefly suits but even tighter. Many tunnelsuits for advanced flyers are skin-tight and made out of stretch material to allow for maximum control from changes in body position.

Skydiving Jersey – commonly worn in combination with swoop pants or other pants they do not offer a specific purpose in terms of performance but developed to be a trend amongst skydivers. Most dropzones, teams, events, and skydiving companies have their own jersey and skydivers wear them to support their home dropzone or favorite brand. (We have jerseys as well btw, just saying^^)

Skydiving Camera Jacket – the most specific type of apparel in terms of performance impacts. Camera jackets have wings spanning from arms to hips that help camera flyers control the fall rate and have more power available to move. There are different types of camera wings for filming in a belly or sitfly position.
