The Safire 3 is a great intermediate canopy for skydivers stepping up from their student canopies as well as jumpers looking to progress in canopy piloting. It is responsive yet forgiving, has great harness sensitivity, nice comfortable openings and good rear riser performance for its class. It is a great option in the used gear market as great deals are commonly available because with the Safire 4 a newer version came out but the difference between the two is small.

The Safire 3 was a large evolution from the Safire 2, having a longer recovery arc, better rear riser performance and more sensitive harness inputs. Especially for someone looking to get into canopy piloting the Safire 3 is worth it compared to the Safire 2. With the Safire 4, JYRO made some improvements to make the recovery arc a bit longer and the openings a bit quicker. From our personal experience and information from the JYRO team, the difference from the Safire 3 to the Safire 4 was more of an evolution compared to the significant changes from the 2 to the 3. If you find a good deal on a Safire 3 we would get it instead of paying significantly more for a Safire 4.

The Sabre 3 is known for a longer recovery arc compared to the Safire 3 whereas the Safire 3 has better harness sensitivity and an overall more responsive feel under canopy.
